i think it's wierd they teach this to little kids....i mean..it's about an English disease.....the lyrics mean this:

pockets full of posies: they stuffed the pockets of the dead with posies to mask the smell...
Ashes, Ashes: that's what a priest would say when he was blessing the diseased before they died...
